Hana Kuyo

Hana Kuyo

Each year at the end of the season,we perform a traditional Flower Offering Ceremony at the Japanese Garden of the city of Hasselt. With this we wish to express our gratitude towards the flowers that colored our lives. We take time to appreciate both the strength and impermanence of flowers, reconnecting ourselves to the circle of growth and decay. During the ceremony you can offer a flower, a flower you can bring along yourselves, a flower that has given you its color and shape as a beautiful present you do not wish to discard of without any consideration. On this day this one flower becomes a gateway for gratitude and respect. With these feelings we entrust this one flower to the earth, we entrust this one flower and this one life back to the circle of life. At the end of the ceremony the flowers will be offered outside near the Shinto-shrine.

The ceremony is held in the pavilion at the rear of the garden.
